Head straight out of the ski room and you're already on the downhill run to the Hartkaiserbahn cable car. Skiers and snowboarders are then right in the middle of one of the world's best ski areas: the 288 kilometres of slopes in Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental. Away from the slopes, winter holidaymakers will find the most beautiful winter hiking trails and tobogganing fun in the snow on the Wilder Kaiser.

Fun on the slopes in Tyrol

The 9 ski resorts of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau, Söll, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf and Hopfgarten have combined to form SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental. Here in Ellmau, everything is on offer from family-friendly slopes to steep descents. Beginners romp around on the large practice area in the valley. Experienced skiers will enjoy the ‘Kaiser-Runde’ (circular route) with almost 20 kilometres of pistes and the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser at an altitude of over 4000 metres.

Snowboarders have boxes, rails and kickers to master in fun parks like the Ellmau Kaiserpark on the Hartkaiser mountain, the Wintergarten in Hochsöll and the Boarders Playground in Westendorf.

55 km of groomed cross-country skiing trails

Cross-country skiing has an immediate effect

The easy 1.5 km long Bichl cross-country skiing trail right by the hotel offers views of the Wilder Kaiser. That's where you get right into holiday mode - whether in the trails or freestyle skate skiing.

55 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails stretch across the Kaiser mountain range resorts of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll. Our tip for cross-country skiing in our slightly hilly landscape: The Kaiserloipe (cross-country skiing trail) in Ellmau with its different variants.

We take cross-country skiers to the trails in the valley in our hotel shuttle. Cross-country ski rental & lessons are offered in Ellmau.

Winter hikes in Ellmau lead along icy and crystal clear streams and through trees covered with ice formations. The snow crunches under your shoes, the Wilder Kaiser towers in the winter landscape.

With snowshoes we can walk far away through the wonderful winter landscape of our Tyrolean mountains. For beginners, the relaxed snowshoe circular route on the golf course at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range is ideal.

How about a tobogganing adventure?

Tobogganing with a seal of quality

Ready for the adrenaline rush? The 4.5 km long toboggan run from the top station of the Astberg cable car down into the valley evokes hearty cheers - from adults and children alike. To go up, take the Astberg cable car or hike up.

Our Wilder Kaiser region is known and loved for its natural and well-maintained toboggan runs. The Astberg toboggan run Ellmau-Going, the Hexenritt and the Mondrodelbahn in Söll have even been awarded the Tyrolean seal of approval for natural toboggan runs.

At the foot of the Wilder Kaiser, you can toboggan on Going’s natural toboggan run (Tannbichl).

An Eldorado for

Touring skiers

First climb the mountain on foot and then, as a highlight, glide down off-piste in powder snow or firn. For many it is an adrenaline rush, a feeling of being one with nature. In the Wilder Kaiser region, ski touring is only permitted on signposted routes, such as the Hartkaiser ascent route in Ellmau.
